The Story of 'Torikawa' That Started from a Small Eight-Tsubo Shop
'Yakitori Gonbei' began in 1968 in Tomiuratei, Jonan Ward, Fukuoka City. The small shop, measuring four ken in width and two ken in depth, just eight tsubo in size, was called 'Nameless Gonbei' without a proper name, and eventually that nickname became the shop's name. The founder, Sadaki Koga, created 'Torikawa' after much trial and error, and it became a specialty loved by those who are not fond of skin and by women as well, quickly growing into a brand. It has been passed down through a dozen stores in Northern Kyushu and has been expanded nationwide as 'Torikawa Gonbei' since 2008. Today, with this one skewer, we continue to bring smiles to more people.
